Electric motobike with more than 24 km/h speed, 40 kg weight, will have registered board as gas engine motobike. People who is onboard, must have driver's license and wear a helmet.

This is a important proposal of Ministry of Transport submitted to Goverment in management this vehicle. Realizing time will depend to new Road law establised.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Transport ordered local authorities to assess quality safety technic, realizing registered, posting registry board to electric motobike. This is a obligation regulations to manage as a conventional motobike. Electric motobile will be managed with standards of gas engine motobike.

At Ho Chi Minh city, after fuel price rose, electric motobike has become a convience option to save living costs. Many new brandname and design has been introduced quickly, adding options to clients. However, quality of these imported vehicle is very complicate.

Mr Vu Tien Hao, Director of Delta company said: Most of electric motobike imported from China, quality couldn't be assurance.

Quality of electric motobike can not equal to gas motobike. Break, battery can not use for a long time. A good battery can be used for a year, but some is only 3 months, with high price. A electric motobike needs 4 batteries with total price up to 1.2 million VND. In other hand, these batteries become metal poison when it's broken. However, there's no regulation on managing these standards, Mr Hao added.

Beside problems on technical aspects, safety levels when using electric bicyle and electric motobike is a big concern, Ho Chi Minh city leader said. Mr Le Hoang Quan, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh city People's Committee said, with electric vehicle, most of clients are students and pupils, so that technical safety aspect have to put more attention.

In a conservation with VnExpress.net, Mr Ton That Quynh Ai, Chief of First aid department of Cho Ray Hospital said, with speed up to 40 - 50 km/h, these electric vehicle can cause dangerous as a conventional motobike. The hospital have treated for some patients had accident with electric motobike.

There's no data on cases related to electric motobike, Ai added. To self-provent, however, passenger should wear a helmet when drive these vehicle.
